Hooray you have finally made that first step that will change the trajectory to the rest of your life. So remember we mentioned in the ebook about jumping? Well here is the thing. Although the time will come when you will have to make that decision to jump or not jump, we don’t want you to jump without putting some things in place like:-

1. Testing your offerings to make sure that you are providing a product or service that others want. You don’t want to mass produce and spend a lot of money and then find out that no one is really interested in your product or the market is too saturated with your kind of offering.

2. Cost is always a big factor when starting any business. Think about how you are going to fund your business. There are a number of ways but just bear in mind that the bank will not help you in the initial stages so you will need to think about how you will finance your business.

3. Put together a business plan. This is your guide, your roadmap to success. Without it you would not be able to gage if your business is making money or losing money, at least not in time for you to make changes and prevent a total loss.

4. Once you have tested your product and you see that it could make a viable business and you put together your business plan then the next step is to register your business. If you are not sure how to do this on your own then speak to an attorney about this. It is a pretty simple process that does not take long to complete. It will also cost you a fee.

5. Get a business bank account. Most if not all banks have small business programs. Make an appointment with a representative at the bank you choose and go in and speak with somebody about how they can help you

6. Start marketing your business. I would suggest that bring your family and friends in on your desire to start a business earlier rather than later. Business cannot thrive in secrecy. If you have a product or business and no one knows about it then your business will most certainly not be successful. Get on to social media sites. You do not need to be on all of them but you can choose the ones that are geared towards your type of business. For example if you are a speaker coach I would suggest LinkedIn very highly. Facebook is ok to build your community and you can get client from that pool but if you are looking for bigger contracts, LinkedIn is a better choice. I would say do both if you can.
